19th International Conference of the Spanish Association of Irish Studies (AEDEI)
‘Silences and Inconvenient Truths in Irish Culture and Society’
27-28 May, 2021. University of Vigo (virtual event)
Thank you so much Teresa Caneda (Chair), Martín Urdiales Shaw, Iria Seijas Pérez, Jorge Figueroa Dorrego, Araceli González Crespán and the technicians for a truly fabulous conference and for putting together a fantastic programme.
Thank you also for all your courage, hard work and enthusiasm in making this such a stimulating conference.
We had a wonderful poetry reading by Mary O’Malley and an impressive plenary lecture by Caelainn Hogan on “The Shame-Industrial Complex”. Thank you both for sharing your unique work and research with us. Plenary lectures by Maurice Fitzpatrick and Prof. Vincent J. Cheng were a gift. Thank you all for attending our event, for all these very important keynotes and for bringing such big differences!
As to all the delegates, many thanks for your brilliant papers and wide ranging talks. We enjoyed a terrific virtual event. We hope the best for you and success in your future. See you in our next event in Burgos. Well done to one all.
