Omniscientific Joyce. The 27th International James Joyce Symposium
June 15 @ 8:00 am - June 19 @ 5:00 pm
This is a one-off email to remind you that the 27th International James Joyce symposium will be held in Trieste from 15 to 19 June next. We are planning a very special event as this will be just the third time Trieste hosts the event (the previous Trieste symposia were held in 1971 and 2002). Because Trieste is this year’s European Capital of Science and because of Joyce’s interest in a range of scientific issues, our umbrella topic is ‘Omniscientific Joyce’. As always, however, the symposium is open to the broadest possible range of topics and approaches.
We are very excited to have two extraordinary special guest writers: Lucy Ellmann and Colm Tóibín along with three wonderful plenary speakers: Eric Bulson (Claremont Graduate University), author of the forthcoming _‘Ulysses’ by Numbers_ (Columbia, 2020); Catherine Flynn (Berkeley), author of _James Joyce and the matter of Paris_ (Cambridge, 2019); and Cóilín Parsons (Georgetown), best known for _The Ordnance Survey and Modern Irish Literature_ (Oxford, 2016).
We are currently accepting paper and panel proposals, which should be sent to: info@Joyce2020.org. The deadline is 2 February 2020.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you in ‘la nostra bella Trieste’ this coming summer!
